4 Mindfulness Practices for Navigating Distractions in the Modern World

Updated: Mar 15

I think in this day and age we are bombarded with how to do more, be more, achieve more.

But the one thing that gets lost in all of the doing is OURSELVES (let alone our health).

I can’t be alone in this feeling of overwhelm from time to time.

So although we likely aren’t looking to drop everything and do nothing, we can all work on being more present throughout our day and week by implementing a few simple mindfulness practices.

Be here now letters

4 Mindfulness Practices

  1. Time block when you use your phone. This means setting intentional times throughout the day to do what you need to or want to on your phone and then set it in a drawer or a different room. Ever heard of out of sight out of mind? well, it works well in this case.

  2. Turn the TV off, even if it’s just background noise while you’re doing something else, it’s just another thing that distracts our mind, whether we think it does or not.

  3. Write a to-do list at the beginning of each day, we know this sounds like doing MORE but it will help you to do less when you’re on a task. When you get to each task focus on that task alone!

  4. If you feel like your mind is often racing, even when you implement some of these things, try writing your thoughts out. It can be journal style or just a quick note on scratch paper. You can also try meditating with an App. Even 5 minutes can help to bring a more centered feeling and help with that busy headspace.

We hope some of these ideas help to bring a more present feeling in your day-to-day life!
